Karachi: After a thrilling match in the first qualifier of the fifth season of Pakistan Super League, Karachi Kings defeated Multan Sultans in the Super Over and made their place in the file.i Kings had given a target of 14 runs to Multan Sultan to win in the Super Over but Multan team could only score 9 runs and thus Kings got the lead by 4 runs. The winner of today’s qualifier match, Kings, has reached the final while the losing team got another chance to reach the final. Earlier, in the first qualifier of the playoffs, Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Multan Sultans scored 141 runs in the allotted overs and gave Karachi a target of 142 runs to win while Kings scored 141 runs for the loss of eight wickets in reply and thus the match was decided in the super over. Babar Azam was the best batsman for Kings with 65 runs and Sohail Tanveer led 3 batsmen to the pavilion. Ravi Bopara scored 40 runs for Multan Sultans and Zeeshan Ashraf scored 21 runs. Khushdal returned to the pavilion after scoring 14 runs. Shahid Afridi added 12 and Adam Light added 9 runs. Riley Rousseau and Mohammad Ilyas scored 5 and 5 while Shaun Masood scored 3 runs. Sohail Tanveer batted aggressively and remained unbeaten on 25 runs. Kings’ Waqas Maqsood and Arshad Iqbal took 2 wickets each and Emad Waseem took 1 wicket. It should be noted that the last phase of Pakistan Super League was postponed in March due to the global epidemic which is now being completed at the National Stadium Karachi without cricket fans.
The last match of the fifth season of Pakistan Super League(PSL) was played seven months ago on March 15 between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators in which “Quetta won by 5 wickets”.
